Keen sailors and windsurfers will notice the wide-open bay with the wind at their back. Mountain bikers will notice the trails in the hills on their way in. But everyone will remember the warm welcome and the long, sandy beach that was waiting for them in this lovely corner of Lesvos.
Aeolian Village Beachclub is super-chilled out. You won’t feel rushed into doing anything while you’re here, even though there’s so much on offer.
The local area A real highlight of a holiday to the Aeolian Village has to be the local village of Skala Erresos. It’s at the other end of the bay, just a 10-minute stroll along the beach. The restaurants built on stilts over the sea add to the relaxed, bohemian vibe of the village. Rich in history with ruins of a castle and acropolis, this was also the birthplace of the poet Sappho.
A short bus ride will take you to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Petrified Forest at Sigri – rare 20 million year old fossilised trees reveal the natural history of the island.
Activities on the water The consistent off shore winds flatten the water in the bay in the mornings for water skiing or wakeboarding, while providing enough power for some seriously good windsurfing or sailing later in the day.
Take a kayak or stand up paddle board from the beach and head out into the Aegean. Explore the bay and head to the village of Skala Eressos. As you’ve paddled to the village, you have the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a cheeky ice cream from one of the cafés rising from stilts on the beachfront.
Activities on the shore The hills around the beachclub are full of trails for mountain bikers of all abilities. Our guided rides are graded on your skill level – with just enough of a challenge if you want it. You can also take a bike out on your own with route cards or if you want to rent a Garmin GPS pre-loaded with some of our favourite routes, you can.
Back at the beachclub, our three floodlit tennis courts offer inclusive coaching that’s open to everyone. Can you win the end of week tournament?
