LIVING WITH PAIN?

Do you or someone you know often suffer from ‘wear and tear’ pain? It may be time to think about how much better life could be if the pain was much less frequent and nothing more than a minor issue. Many of us have come to the Costas to relax and soak up the laid-back lifestyle. We don’t want the onset of problematic back ache, sore feet, stiff legs, hip, knee or shoulder pain to spoil our fun in the sun.

If we were cars we would change the oil, put on new tyres and keep the fuel topped up to keep going. But what happens when there is a major fault inside the engine? It has to be fixed before the car is able to go anywhere. Inside your body, your spine is similar to an engine. The health of your spine is central to your overall well-being. One of its primary functions is to support your whole body, keeping every limb and connecting joint in good order.

The body has an extensive network of nerves, like a busy electrical circuit board, active 24/7, even when we are sleeping. The spine is like the main highway, channelling and connecting these nerves, from your brain down to your toes. When there is damage or trauma to your neck or back, for example, these conditions can become inflamed, causing nerve-trapping and therefore pain, often radiating out from where the injury has occurred to further down the ‘highway’.

This is why we sometimes can experience pain in our hands (often from possible shoulder damage), or in our knees (from issues with our lower back or hips).

Shockwave Therapy: Dr Hans Christian Madsen DC has many years’ experience using Shockwave therapy. As we age, calcifications can build up in our bodies. At his Chiropractic Clinic in Benijofar, he uses Shockwave Therapy to remove this calcification, which helps to release trapped nerves, resulting in more movement and less pain. The treatment uses waves of sound which gently penetrate the tissues under the skin, gradually breaking down the calcification particles that build up around the vertebrae discs and joints. After this treatment, the particles are carried away in the bloodstream by the laser treatment, which follows.

Laser Therapy: Dr Madsen has developed his own specific low level lasers systems which can strengthen and heal damaged cells. They work by supplying energy to the body in the form of penetrating light. The tissues and cells absorb this energy where it is used to accelerate the normal rate of healing. It brings vital nutrients and fluids to cartilage and discs and increases blood flow to the injured area. Laser therapy is safe, non invasive, non toxic, easily applied, highly effective and has no negative side effects.
