Steven went backstage and said hello to the

band before they headed out to the meet and greet. This is a band that plays hard for two solid hours or more and still wont leave until everyone who wants a picture and a hand shake gets one. We waited until they were done and Steven gave Charlie a copy of Michael’s book Rebel Yell that Michael had sent him, said goodbye and headed home to- tally whipped from two solid nights of the best music and people you could ever experi- ence. Thanks again to my brother from another

sang along with every song and I believe it got louder as the night went on. I have heard a lot of people compare Smoke to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I guess I can see that, but to me it’s the songwriting where they remind me of Skynyrd. Every song is like a snapshot of someones life, and even if all of the words of the song don’t fit your life, maybe one line will be something you can relate to. They finished the set with “Leave a Scar,”

before a short break, and then returned for a strong three-song encore of “Too High,” an- other new song “Sunrise in Texas,” and my all-time favorite song, “Aint Much Left of Me.” This second new song has what I call a “swampy” feel to it, and I can’t wait to sit down with a good set of head phones and just get lost in it. You wouldn’t have known it but by his per-

formance, but Charlie was sick both nights, but he was a trooper as always and played his heart out. The band left it all on the stage each night. After the show was a meet and greet in

which fans could buy a ticket to meet the band and get photos and autographs. All of the money raised goes to the Childrens Hos- pital in Atlanta. If I remember right, to date the band has raised over $100,000 for the hospital and it’s that kind of giving back that sets this band apart from so many artists on the road today.
