And I told my wife, I was like, “I can’t believe that!” I mean, I’ve got the memory, you know, seared into my brain but I still really can’t be- lieve it. That I stood up there next to that man and sang that song.

It is amazing. Yeah, it’s amazing, so definitely I would say my absolute favorite experience was singing with George Jones.

Oh yeah. Be kind of hard to top. I love playing, I love playing with Warren Haynes. I’ve gotten to play with him a few times now.

That’s just great. Great guy, too. Yeah. Rich and Chris Robinson, those guys, its always great to sit in with them. Rickey Med- locke and Gary (Rossington). We’ve done jams together. We did Rickey’s All Star Jam on the Skynyrd cruise the last few years and got to play with those guys. I got to play through Gary’s amp. And just two years ago, or maybe three, Gary and Dale renewed their wedding vows on the cruise in front of everyone up on the deck. And I was asked to play guitar. Gary wanted to hear some slide guitar as they walked down the aisle. So I played “Amazing Grace” on the gui- tar all by myself. I was so nervous, it was crazy! Because here they are, Dale’s got on a wedding dress and Gary’s got a tux on and he walked up on stage and walked over, I was over in the cor- ner- he walked over and gave me a great big kiss on the cheek. (Laughing) That’s another huge one. I mean, if you had told me that I would have been given the opportunity to do something like that when I was a kid, I would have said you were crazy.

Wow! Yeah, I would have loved to have heard that version of the song though. Well, it was…

I’ll bet that was really cool. It was weird too because he said, “I want to hearsome slide, play some.” I didn’t tell him I was going to play “Amazing Grace,” they just

wanted to hear something sweet, you know. Then after the “I do’s” I think Gary wanted to hear like some blues like some Elmore James, so that’s what I did, but I did it at the wrong time. Well, he turned around to me and said, “Do it!” (Both laughing) And the preacher was- n’t ready yet, so it was funny. I think my whole band laughed out loud and I was like, “I’m just doing what Gary Rossington asked me to do!”

Yeah, exactly. What else you gonna do? Yeah. What was I going to do? Say “No?”

Well, that is cool, man, that is something I didn’t know. I like that. You know Holding All the Roseswas voted Number One Album of 2015 in Kudzoo. I’ve really enjoyed that album a lot. Do you have any particularly favorite songs from that one that you still enjoy singing and play- ing? I enjoy playing ‘em all still. I really like “Rock and Roll Again.” It’s just a good-feelin’ song. My son loves that one. He’s two. That’s the only one he likes so… (Both laugh)) I feel like it must be a good one ‘cause that’s the only one he likes. That and the title track are my two fa- vorites. “No Way Back to Eden.” I like.

Oh yeah, that’s good, too! I forgot about that. Because it’s probably the most laid-back song we’ve ever recorded, I would say. It’s got that...it’s kind of a groovy thing you know.

Oh yeah. Mman, I like “Whippoorwill” a lot too, that’s a beautiful song. Well, thank you.

Man yeah, I guess I’m just a fan. I don’t know, I really can’t pick a favorite.

Yeah. Yeah, “Holding All the Roses” has s got some power live too and I really enjoy that. I don’t know. I’m wrapped up right now in my brain with new ones. We just finished the basic tracks on a new album.
