FF - Your Magazine The Town Meets Country Event... A ROARING SUCCESS !!

Saturday 14th November was a fun filled day packed full of humans and animals as Grupo Rubio and Skoda staged the Town Meets Country Event.

The event organised by Gina Marks of GM Promotions, created a fusion of ex-pat, international and Spanish businesses and visitors, who all came together in Torrevieja in aid of supporting four worthy causes, The Albergue Municipal (dog pound), The Alimentos Solidarios (food bank), A.L.P.E children’s society and the Norwegian Church.

There were 10 dog adoptions achieved on the day, as well as animal awareness for our furry friends, including that from sponsors San Anton who provided vital veterinary advice. The animals and animal attractions really made the event, and special thanks go out to all collaborators, media partners and sponsors. Thanks also go to those who made the day with the line-up of animal attractions…. The Guardia Civil and their drug dogs team who came from Alicante to delight the audience with a demonstration from Cloy, the amazing trained drug detector dog; Club Agility Torrevieja, with a wonderful display of Dog Agility that wowed the crowds; Emma Tytherliegh performing with her horses Rocky and Romero; Marianne from Las Colina Falconry with the Hawk, Colin and Hope for Podencos Irene & Steve Allen for organising the Dog Shows which saw 50 wonderful dogs entering into the ring to be judged by the professional international judge Barbara Coy, CoyKhan Afghans. There were many winners with the Best in Show Dog being Trveno, the blind Spaniel belonging to Nicola Moran. To finish the day the Centro De Danza Lola Morales & Arantxa Blanco took to the floor with Flamenco dancing, and also to teach some salsa dancing…… A truly great day was had by all……..various prizes were won including the 32” TV donated by Female Focus Publications - Jennifer Hirst was the lucky winner (see page 5)!
