Female Focus


Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The Choir is rehearsing for its two free flagship Church Christmas concerts. The first at St Batholemews in Javea Pueblo at 8.30 on Thursday 10th December and the final concert is at Benitachell at 7pm on Wednesday 16th December. All are welcome. Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only is it a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. The diary also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: The society is now well into rehearsals for their concert performances of ‘Ruddigore’ next April. Although this is one of the lesser known G&S operettas it is full of good music and the usual convoluted storyline. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Footlights centre in Calpe. Anyone wanting more information or anyone interested in joining this friendly group should contact musical director Aileen on 696 514 613.


Campoverde Theatre Group: The group is presently rehearsing their latest Pantomime; ‘The Owl and the Pussy Cat’ which will be staged early February 2016. There are still vacancies for chorus members. The group meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Community


Centre, Blue Lagoon at 2pm and welcome new members, especially men, singers and soloists and back stage crew. For details contact Jan on 647 579 068.


Cantabile Ladies Choir: The choir raised over 400€ from concerts at La Siesta and Campoverde churches and are currently rehearsing a ‘Seasonal Concert’ at La Siesta Church on Saturday 28th November at 7pm. If you are interested in joining a group of sociable, friendly ladies, you will be given a warm welcome. Rehearsals every Friday from 3/5pm at La Siesta Church. Careline Theatre: Careline Theatre’s 2016 annual pantomime ‘Aladdin’ is from 14th to 17th January at 8pm, with matinees at 3pm on 16th and 17th January. Tickets 12€ for adults, 8€ for children under 10. Groups of

Footlights Theatre Group: Members of the Group are currently in rehearsals for their latest musical production; ‘Annie.’ Performances this November at Alfaz del Pi Friday 13th, and Rojales Saturday 14th, then two nights in Calpe, on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th. All performances commence 7.30pm, except Rojales which is

GASP: The group are now holding auditions for their next production and need younger men. Melody Makers International: Following their successful appearance at the Benidorm Palace charity concert hosted by Stevie Spit, the singers are now well into rehearsals for their next production, ‘Music of the Night,’ a concert with a wide mix of choral singing. This is scheduled to be performed on the last Saturday in January at the Orihuela Costa Resort. Further information: contact Nigel on 966 775 976.


Networks Theatre: Next production is ‘Aladdin,’ a pantomime full of fun, silly gags, music and a cast of thirty. Aladdin will be played by Jorge Ruiz, evil Abanazar, Dennis Carpenter and Widow Twankey, writer and director, Nick Moore. Tickets 9.50€ adults
