Winter Colour trends for 2015
Sophisticated Black and Lustrous Gold One of the popular decorating trends of 2015 has been the use of metallic hues and accents and this style statement is set to continue even into 2016. The real showstopper of the season is a beautiful and elegant blend of black and gold that combines glamour with a sense of cool sophistication. Black and yellow has always been a hot combination, but this winter, classic yellow is replaced with the radiance of gold. The black and gold duo works in pretty much any room, and you can vary the amount of each of these hues to create a colour palette that complements styles ranging from Hollywood Regency to modern minimalist. For those who are more tentative about a new colour scheme, try out a black accent wall and lighting fixtures in gold before you make more substantial changes.
Vibrant navy blue Navy blue is often associated with nautical themes and summer-inspired interiors but this winter, navy blue is making big waves as an exclusive winter shade that replaces the usual greens and reds. Rich, classy and versatile, it can be used in themes that range from rustic and farmhouse to contemporary and industrial. Again, for those who have colour commitment issues, plush bedding in navy blue is a great way to add this vivid hue without actually committing to permanent changes. Obviously, this makes a stronger visual impact when you have a bedroom that boasts a warm, neutral backdrop. A touch of navy blue for the kitchen island or the home office will also make a big impression with ease.
Charcoal Charm Every season needs its own hot new neutral, and this winter it is yet again from the family of grey. A touch darker than most other shades of grey, charcoal grey is ideal for shaping snug interiors and works beautifully with other bold accent colours. Think of the usual lime greens,
vibrant oranges as well as hot fuchsia and elegant purples, and for something a little less vibrant, a sophisticated scheme can be created from simply combining shades of beige, cream and taupe with these dark shades of grey. As always, remember that colour trends are there to guide you, at the end of the day always go with colours that you absolutely love and use the trends as a guide to keep your schemes up to date.
