Curry On Cooking Afternoon Tea with Woof and me!


As a homage to the Town Meets Country Event we let ‘Boy Spice’ Josh Wright loose in the kitchen he’s come up with a treat using traditional Indian spices suitable for both you and your pampered pooch to enjoy. A nice cuppa with lovely naturally healthy biscuits. KEEP CALM as Josh will be selling them alongside the Curry On Cooking kits on the 14th November fundraising for his dog charity APAH.


Ginger Woof biscuits (can be shared with the human) 4 cups (500g) plain flour 2 cups (250g) whole wheat flour 4 tablespoons ground ginger 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 cup (350g) molasses 1 cup (225ml) warm water ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil Pre heat oven 170ºC (325ºF) Method 1. Place all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix, then add the wet ingredients, mix thoroughly to form a dough. 2. Roll out dough ¼ inch (6 mm) thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter. 3. Place them on a baking tray. Bake for 30 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 dozen depending on size of cutter. Will keep up to two weeks in air tight container.


Chai tea for two Two cups of water 1 teaspoon fennel seeds Cardamom seeds from 4-6 pods 1 teabag of your choice ¼ cup of milk


Sugar to taste optional Method


1. Heat two cups of water in a saucepan. 2. Add the fennel seeds, the cardamom seeds and the teabag. Simmer for 5 mins. 3. Add the milk and sugar to taste (optional). Bring to the boil, strain and serve.


SPICE CORNER. Ginger. The root of the ginger plant has for centuries been used as a spice and medicine in the Indian subcontinent. It comes in several forms including raw root, powder, capsule and tea. Ginger is great for you as well as your furry friend: Powdered form ginger is often used to treat nausea and an upset stomach. If your dog suffer from car sickness give him in ginger about 45 minutes before the journey. Ginger can thin the blood, it is also known to lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar. Consult your vet if your dog is pregnant or on medication before administering ginger. Cinnamon is a lovely, fragrant spice with many health benefits. Around the world it’s used to treat diarrhoea, flatulence and nausea. Cinnamon is considered to boost energy and vitality. Cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar, good for overweight pooches and owners alike. Cloves are dried up flower buds – used in Indian cooking whole to flavour curries they are used whole or ground into spice mixes such as garam masala. Cloves contain a mild antiseptic and the oil is used to relieve the pain of toothache.
