A truly attractive proposition
Taking place alongside the EAG Expo at the ExCel exhibition centre in London this January, the inaugural Visitor Attraction Expo will host some key suppliers of amusement and attractions equipment
THE Visitor Attraction Expo (VAE), a brand new event for the UK attractions and leisure venue sectors, is produced by the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA), which represents over 300 members. Taking place alongside the established EAG Expo
from January 13 to15, VAE has been created for owners and buyers from small family run businesses to large global enterprises operating a wide spectrum of venues and destinations, including themed attractions, leisure parks,
static attractions, piers, indoor play centres,
zoos, animal attractions and many more. Exhibiting companies will show a diverse range of
products and technologies ranging from theme park rides to simulators, ticketing and payment systems, indoor and outdoor play equipment, theming, animation, special effects and much more. “For some time, a number of our members have been
asking for an annual expo and networking event with a UK focus,” said BALPPA chief executive Paul Kelly. “We strongly believe that the Visitor Attraction Expo will be a welcome meeting place and a great platform from which to further serve the entire industry by providing a forum for education, networking and lobbying.” A variety of high-profile companies and trade
associations have confirmed their attendance at the inaugural VAE, including ALES, DP Leisure, Innovative Leisure, Severn Lamb and, of course, InterPark.

www.interpark.co.uk In addition to the action taking place on the show
floor, the organisers of VAE 2015 have revealed details of a significant seminar and education programme. Each seminar will address a current hot issue, with the focus on risk reduction and business development. Robert Kluth, director of the leisure division of Lorica
Insurance, will be opening proceedings by charting a course through the ‘minefields’ of
the Ministry of
Justice’s liability claims portal and the HSE Fee for Intervention. Increasingly, leisure businesses are
turning to
mystery shoppers as a tool for achieving exceptional customer service. In a revealing presentation, Jonathan Winchester of Shoppers Anonymous will deliver an insight into this secret world. In addition, Picsolve’s global business development
director, Baz Slatter, will be taking a close look at consumer behaviour, while Scott Brown, director of business development for We Do Digital (WDD), will be presenting sessions on social media and customer service.
