New developments from C&S

Italian company C&S continues to provide a range of different attractions to clients around the world. Among some of the more recent projects completed by the company is a dark ride for La Granja Villa Y Su Mundo Magico in Peru, for which it provided the cars and track rail, while in Saudi Arabia C&S has restyled an existing Merry-Go-Round children’s ride with a snow theme with penguins, polar bears and other related characters. The company is particularly well-known for its bumper cars and it has

supplied three new sets recently to the Al Hokair Group, also in Saudi Arabia. It is also currently producing two bumper car buildings, while looking further ahead it is also considering the idea of creating battery powered bumper cars. “The batteries for such purposes are

much better today that they were some years ago,” explained Giancarlo Bellotti, “so this is now a real possibility.” C&S is also working with Zamperla in

connection with the Warner Bros. project in Dubai and is creating two midi sized bumper cars with special Warner Bros. body designs. The prototypes of these are currently being made.

Cruden reveals powerboat simulator

Cruden unveiled its new powerboat simulator at the IAAPA Expo 2014, having launched the poweboat’s ‘vehicle model’ and sescape visuals at the previous year’s event. This was the first occasion at which the complete simulator, with board

body and interior, including seats, sterring wheel and controls, had been shown and it was well received. The Cruden Powerboat 5CTR is a new three to four minute long, interactive experience for up to five passengers and uses an actual 16-foot Phantom racing powerboat body. “We are delighted at the reaction to the PowerBoat 5CTR from the

attendees at the show,” said Cruden commercial director Frank Kalff. “The IAAPA Attractions Expo is the perfect place to launch such a new concept – for example, this is the first time we have needed to talk to waterparks and wet attraction developers and they are all here.” The Cruden Powerboat 5CTR brings a high level of accuracy and realism to

the boat race/ride experience. The company has applied the same, detailed modelling approach to wave and boat dynamics and professional image generation as found in its race car simulators. With two of the crew at the front controlling the helm, throttle, trim and

navigation, and three participating in the action from the back seats, guests are fully immersed via realistic motion (roll, pitch and heave) and interaction with ocean swell, waves and the wake from other boats. The result is a high speed group experience which allows two or more boats to race against each other.

Sally/Six Flags launch interactive dark ride

Florida-based Sally Corporation held a press conference on the first day of IAAPA Attractions Expo 2014 to officially launch its new interactive dark ride Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, which is set to open at both Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St. Louis in the US in 2015. The new attraction, created in partnership with Six Flags, Warner Bros.

Consumer Products and DC Entertainment, will bring some of the world’s most famous super heroes to life in a battle alongside park guests to defeat two of the most well-known villains in the DC Universe, The Joker and Lex Luthor. The adventure features Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash,

Green Lantern and Supergirl in a fight to save the city of Metropolis from chaos. They are aided by the amazing Cyborg who recruits guests for the volunteer force and demonstrates how to defeat the menaces at hand with powerful laser blasters. Sally designed the rides after completing the mixed-media interactive ride,

Justice League : Alien Invasion 3D, in 2012 at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia. After the success of that attraction, Six Flags called on Sally to develop an entirely new ride based on the Justice League. The ride utilises custom, motion-based vehicles from Oceaneering that

Dynamic Attractions seeks

to widen its scope Having built a number of media-based attractions for Disney and Universal through sister company Dynamic Structures, Dynamic Attractions is now looking to supply other parks and attractions with media based rides but at a more affordable cost. “We recognise that not everyone can afford Disney or Universal type

rides,” CEO Guy Nelson told InterPark, “but we can still leverage the same engineering expertise and create rides that provide a similar guest experience at a lower cost.” High end audio visual systems and mechanical structural elements are also

key parts of the company’s attractions, the quality of the products giving them great longevity, and Nelson added: “We want to move into being a product led company as these products have legs. Also, Disney and Universal are raising the bar with their new parks and attractions so it’s a good time to be doing this and bringing our attractions to market.” Those attractions include a Flying Theatre,

Immersive Transporter, a Trackless Ride Vehicle and the SFX Coaster, the first example of the Flying Theatre being due to open in China in December for the Wanda Group. A robotic platform concept

is another product currently

under development, while the company is also working in Asia, in China in particular, North America and the Middle East.
