IAAPA Attractions Expo News Bobbejaanland to open Holovis
Immersive Tunnel Bobbejaanland, in Lichtaart, Belgium, will open a new Immersive Tunnel attraction in May 2015. Entitled The Forbidden Caves, the ride will take visitors on a journey into mysterious caves, ‘where danger – and supernatural creatures – lurk in every corner!’ The Immersive Tunnel will be the first attraction of its kind in Belgium and
is being designed and installed by Holovis on a turnkey-key basis, supported by media partners Super 78. The ride will feature a dual, 30-seat motion platform on a five degrees of freedom (DOF) base with specially created 3D media around the ride vehicles on all sides and to the front. Roland Kleve, CEO, Bobbejaanland, commented:“I am proud to present an
Immersive Tunnel to our visitors. The Forbidden Caves is a new type of ride in the portfolio of Bobbejaanland. This new ride is not only about adrenaline! It is so much more; it is also about discovery, interaction and surprise. The total adventure of the customer is 10 minutes. The ride is highly themed and we (will) have actors in the queue line to put the visitors in the right mood to enjoy the ride for the full experience.”
Polin introduces new ‘effects’ slide
Waterpark specialist Polin Waterparks and Pool Systems introduced a new version of its natural light effect slides at the IAAPA show, now featuring the shapes of fish and other sea creatures, while also incorporating a sound system. All the designs allow light into the enclosed slide, while the built in sound
system turns the slide into a passive speaker that naturally amplifies sound through the entire tube. The combination creates a whole new experience for riders and another new option for operators to consider. The company also reported on a variety of new projects it has recently
completed and others for 2015. These have included several in Thailand, such as the Dino Waterpark, Bangkok, and another park in Samui Island, while it supplied the attractions at the award-winning Cartoon Network Amazone waterpark which opened in October last year near Pattaya City, where uniquely, each slide in the park is based on a Cartoon Network character. In 2015, Polin will supply all the attractions for the new Amazia waterpark
in Mumbai, India, and it will also provide attractions for the new Aquacolours park in Croatia which is due to open this year. Other projects the company will complete this year include those in Ukraine, Portugal, Spain, Argentina and the US, to name but a few.
