Intamin highlights new attractions

Intamin presented a number of new attractions at the 2014 IAAPA Expo, according to the company’s Sascha Czibulka. “One of the highlights was certainly “SKY JUMP,” our newest free fall

attraction. With the first installation just a few miles away at Busch Gardens Tampa, quite a number of clients were able to experience the ‘sky diving’ themselves. And the feedback was overwhelming. We are now in serious talks for further installations, also with less than 32 passengers and more modest heights compared with Busch’s 100+ meter version.” Another ride which created much interest was the Dome Ride Theatre, a

joint development between Intamin and Attraktion!. This is a completely new media based attraction and is a combination of a rotating and tilting ring (the ride system supplied by Intamin) and a dome together with media based special effects (both supplied by Attraktion!). Intamin displayed a model of the Dome Ride Theatre on the company’s booth. “The trend of media-based attractions has also influenced the recent

design of roller coasters,” Czibulka continued. “Intamin’s new Multi- Dimensional Coaster is our answer to this trend. With several special effects added to the traditional indoor coaster, such as a free fall unit, a teeter-totter and some other effects, and all this in combination with different propulsion systems, we now have a unique product meeting the demand for attractions which combine real ride action with media based content. The Escape from Gringotts ride (at Universal Studios Resort in Orlando) gives a good idea of what we are talking about.” Following several acclaimed openings in 2014, Intamin has many more

new ride installations due to open in 2015, including several coasters, along with the Orlando Eye, a 120m Giant Wheel with 30, 15 passenger cabins, the structure of which, close to the convention centre, could be seen by visitors to the IAAPA Expo.

A new project being promoted by Dutch company KMG at the IAAPA Expo was the Swing Tower, a 24 seat, 35m swing ride on one semi-trailer with a theme of ‘train your dragon.’ The attraction also features a rotating tower, major theming and a

complete lighting system and is due to be delivered to Lunds Tivoli in Norway in March this year. December also saw the delivery of a new style Discovery ride with 20

suspended seats to Caine Brown in Australia, while a completely new, 65m Inversion ride with 24 seats, on five semi trailers, which can be set up without a crane, is being developed for delivery in 2016. Another

new concept from

KMG is a new and improved Move It ride for 16 passengers on one semi trailer. With a height of 14m it offers different variations, with two rotational points and the option of rotating or suspended seats. The first version will be available in 2016.

Sacoa completes new installations

after successful IAAPA show After an extremely successful IAAPA show where Sacoa presented the COLOR-SHOT HDT RF reader, the company is back on the road with several new installations taking place during the winter. “We had a great show, in fact it was one of the best ever,” reported

company director Sebastian Mochkovsky. “Guests to our booth were very impressed with the COLOR-SHOT HDT RF reader, our latest release featuring a multi-function card reader that includes all of the features offered by its predecessor – full HD color 3.5” touchscreen, auto orientation, e-tickets counting – and combines Dual Head Magnetic Stripe plus RFID Tap-to-Credit Technology which introduces the option of contactless reading for RFID cards, wristbands, tokens and key fobs.” “Visitors also showed a high level of interest in the EZ System we showcased

at the booth,” added brother and fellow company director Pol Mochkovsky. “The idea of having an ‘All-In-One’ debit card system, self-contained and self- installed, has had great acceptance since it was launched in 2006 and has lately proven to be the perfect economical solution for unattended or smaller locations such as bowling centres, movie theatres, trampoline parks, etc.” The winter months were set to be a busy time for Sacoa, the company

having concluded the installation of over 100 games with their Colorshot HDT readers at Gameworks Salt Lake City and scheduled installations
