IAAPA Attractions Expo News accesso’s acquires VisionOne

accesso Technology Group, a major technology solutions provider to the global attractions and leisure industry, continues on the acquisition trail having recently announced the purchase of VisionOne Worldwide, a leading provider of ticketing solutions for casinos, fairs, sporting events, arenas theatres, performing arts centres and tours. The company operates ShoWare, a customisable cloud-based ticket sales and distribution solution, and the acquisition brings together

two major

adjacent markets in the ticketing industry, namely leisure/attractions and entertainment, and firmly establishes accesso as a leader in the sector. The acquisition is the third major transaction for accesso in as many

years. At the end of 2012 the virtual queuing company known then as Lo-Q, acquired accesso, and in December 2013 the company purchased Siriusware, a leading ticketing and guest management point-of-sale technology provider to the attractions and leisure industries. Talking to InterPark about the various acquisitions that have taken place,

accesso CEO Tom Burnet said that there were many benefits to bringing all the different

companies under one

roof, not only for accesso but also for its customers. “There’s something about scale. the parts is more than

The sum of

everyone as individuals,” he said. “We now support 1,000 venues, which is up from just 18 four years ago.”

accesso CEO Tom Burnet Wide range of projects for Severn Lamb

UK company Severn Lamb continues to supply its products and services to a worldwide client base and revealed a number of projects to InterPark at the IAAPA Expo. An example of a new product, a Modern Funicular railway, was delivered

last summer to a ski resort in South Korea, while in China, in its role as agent in that country for Wattman Trains, Severn Lamb has sold three mini express trains to three theme parks. The company is also completing a ride package to Shenyang Everfashion,

with delivery to start this year. This includes three Jupiter rail trains, a Texan rail train, a Jitney wagon, a vending car and a single deck trolley. Three Severn Lamb land trains have also gone to Vietnam, while the

company recently delivered its seventh train to Ecoland in South Korea. A Texan rail train will debut at Tayto Park in Ireland this year too, while the company is also providing trains for the new Mail Rail visitor attraction in London. Severn Lamb also offers a wide range of refurbishment, maintenance and

repair services and has recently carried out refurbishment work on the Storm Force water ride boats at Drayton Manor Theme Park in the UK.

Whitewater confirms historic supply deal

Waterpark specialist Whitewater continues to make the news with a variety of announcements relating to an assortment of new projects, products and agreements. Among these has been the announcement that the company has signed

a historic $C29m deal with the Yinji Dynasty’s Zhengzhou Yinji Kaifeng Waterpark in Henan, China, to supply the park with a host of attractions, this being the largest ever single order for the global waterpark sector. Guests can expect to see nine separate waterslide complexes, almost 50

waterslides, three custom themed AquaPlay™ structures, a Shoot the Chute water ride, three wave pools, two types of Wave Rivers and a FlowRider® Double. “This is a remarkable project for WhiteWater,” commented Geoff Chutter,

the company’s CEO and founder. “Since 1980, we’ve been committed to creating world-class, entertaining waterparks. Yinji Dynasty’s recent order is a testament to that commitment and to our growth.” Estimated to finish in summer 2015, the park will be China’s largest waterpark. The company has also signed a licensing agreement with NASCAR to allow

it and its waterpark clients to use the logo and marks on themed rides and products based on the iconic NASCAR brand. One of the first rides to bear the NASCAR logo will be WhiteWater’s multi-lane racing mat ride, currently being proposed to several parks.

And most among the company’s recently completed projects

is the Vana Nava Hua Hin Water Jungle which opened its doors in Thailand on December 1. The park offers guests the opportunity to brave some of Thailand’s largest waterslides, all of which were supplied by WhiteWater.

More developments from Mack

Among the many projects Mack Rides is involved in for 2015 is a new spinning coaster for Adventureland in Long Island, US. “This is a smaller park compared to some of the parks we work with but

it is special for us to do work with such parks and do such projects,” said the company’s marketing manager Maximilian Roeser. “It will cover a small footprint and will use two vehicles. It’s a chance and a challenge for us to do sharper turns so the cars really spin well. It will open in the spring of 2015.” The company is also currently working with a new park in Xian City in

China (as yet unnamed) for which it will supply the signature coaster, a 65m tall mega coaster with an out and back style track and incorporating one of the largest loops on such a ride. At the IAAPA Expo the company was highlighting its inverted power

coaster as used in the Arthur in the Minimoys Kingdom at Europa-Park. An example of this ride has now been sold to a client in the Middle East for a movie-themed ride, while according to Roeser “other parks big on storytelling are also looking to use this system.” Among other new installations for 2015 will be a small powered coaster for

Plohn Park in Germany, to be operated indoors, and a boat ride for Emmen Zoo in the Netherlands. And

looking further

ahead to 2016, Mack is developing two prototype rides – one a water ride and the other a

new ride systems for the Walibi Group.
