MOVING FLOORS

Offering the ultimate in flexibility, the Certikin Chameleon Powered Floor is an impressive feat of engineering

“Floor drive systems have diversified in the market place, and we will always look to innovate. Originally we only supplied a buoyant floor system; keeping things simple always provides cheaper servicing costs, but sometimes a more direct drive is required.” Wrightfield can now offer a complete hydraulic scissor design, predominantly developed from their disabled lifts design. The company have also developed a working relationship over the last four years with the Natare Corporation in the USA, where floors are a rare commodity. The relationship has generated a number of export opportunities, not just in the US, but as far afield as New Zealand and Australia.

NOTHING FLOORS CERTIKIN WITH THE CHAMELEON

Offering the ultimate in flexibility, the Certikin Chameleon Powered Floor is an impressive feat of engineering, which allows a living space to be transformed at the touch of a button into a swimming pool. Totally unique, it simply slides out on silent rollers to cover the pool seamlessly with the existing flooring and when the pool is required, the powered floor simply slides back onto a sub- floor which can be constructed under the

house, garden or patio. Its platform features motion sensors front and rear to prevent collision with foreign objects. In the event of a sensor being triggered, the platform will stop moving. The floor is constructed to meet architectural floor loading standard No BS 6399-1.

Leading architect, Harry Calder was planning the design of a house in Knutsford, Cheshire and he was able to create two rooms in one thanks to the Chameleon. He said: “The Chameleon offers the ultimate flexibility to convert the pool room.” He quoted the example of a project currently under construction where the pool room can be used as a leisure suite and gym and swiftly converted into a boardroom. “It creates an extra room but offers a number of options that take it beyond simply being a pool cover.”

The powered floor significantly cuts pool heating costs and humidity levels, reducing a home’s carbon footprint. And for families with young children, it allows parents to make the pool a completely out-of-bounds zone. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor pools. The Cartwright Group offers a complete service, from survey, design and installation. Certikin’s Executive Sales Manager, Bruce

Coppuck says: “The Chameleon floor is a unique and stunning concept which offers pool owners maximum flexibility. Like Certikin, The Cartwright Group have been in business well over 50 years so the customer has the assurance of buying a quality system based on material strength and high performance engineering.”

HIGH END INSTALLATIONS SEES HYDROFLOORS GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH Hydrofloors has had an incredibly busy few years with projects started, completed and ongoing across both Europe and the US. Currently they have projects in London, Paris, Jersey, Lichtenstein, Switzerland (three different locations) and four projects starting in the US before the end of the year. Their impressive client list reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ with names from the Palo Alto elite, US Senators, Media moguls, Corporation CEO’s and even a Russian Oligarch. The company only works with the high end swimming pool construction companies, project managing each bespoke installation and a feature of the Hydrofloors system is that all the maintenance access is hidden to keep the finish suitable for a high end luxury room.
