LSPC – Swimming Upstream!

London Swimming Pool Company (LSPC) continues its unstoppable growth with a move to larger premises in its 30th anniversary year to accommodate its expanding team. After 15 years in Southfields, LSPC has moved to new offices at Shannon Commercial Centre in New Malden. The large, airy new offices over two floors provides plenty of space for the growing design, construction, servicing, finance and admin teams. Managing Director, Jamie Smith said: “This is an important milestone for us. The business has doubled in size in the last five years and we were bursting at the seams at the old office. Our new office provides a superior working environment, space to hold b usiness meetings, on site parking for our fleet of vehicles and a secure warehouse for chemicals and spares – everything we need to enable us to respond to service calls quickly.

This office will see us through our next growth phase, which we’re confident will be as productive as the last 30 years.”

Dalesauna Creates Thermal Spa For £14m Leisure Centre Sauna and steam room experts Dalesauna are

developing a luxury thermal spa for the £14m Abbey Leisure Centre in Barking, east London. Designed by AFLS+P Architects for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, the new leisure centre is located in Barking town centre and will replace the existing Abbey Sports Centre.

Dalesauna are working with the architects as well as the contractors Willmott Dixon, who are building the scheme, to design a range of heat experiences for the 100sq m thermal spa area. These include a large sauna with luxury benches, LED lighting and two hidden heaters; an aromatherapy steam room; crystal steam room and salt inhalation room.

Other facilities include a tiled deck level hydrotherapy pool with massage jets, an ice feature, a tiled heated bench and two feature showers.

The project is the latest 4 December 2014 SPN

in a string of luxury spa facilities developed by Dalesauna for the public sector, which include the likes of the Verulamium Spa at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre in St Albans and the One Spa at Wimbledon Leisure Centre.

“We are delighted to be working on this project with AFLS&P. Both companies are highly experienced in this sector and having such an enlightened client as Barking & Dagenham Council has allowed us to create a thermal suite which boasts the same quality of design, facilities and finishes that you would expect to find in a five star hotel or destination spa. The council has been very innovative in their choice of facilities ensuring that the new spa will act as a great additional revenue stream, and also attract people who may not have considered using a local authority centre previously. It will be a great facility for local

residents,” says Dean Edwards, Sales Manager at Dalesauna.

Building works are well underway on the scheme, which will also include a 25m x 12.5m swimming pool, a learner pool, a 140 station gym, three large studios, a soft play facility and a café. “This is going to be a stunning new facility in Barking Town Centre which will hugely benefit the health of residents. Barking and Dagenham is without question London’s biggest growth opportunity, and that includes a social and cultural offer. I hope that our residents are excited by this new facility and will enjoy using it,” said Cllr Darren Rodwell, leader of the council. This is the second new leisure centre to open in the borough in three years, representing a total cost of £37m. The centre is due to open before Christmas this year.
