2014 AGMs And President’s Weekend

The 2014 AGMs for BSPF, SPATA and BISHTA took place this year on Friday 19 September, in the stunning surroundings of the Cricket St Thomas Hotel, Chard in Somerset.

T

he AGM shared its setting with the British Swimming Pool Federation President’s Weekend hosted by Issy Rickards-Sanger, which began on the evening of the 19th. The BSPF would like to offer thanks to everyone who supported the AGM meetings and the President’s Weekend, both of which provided fantastic networking opportunities with time to catch-up and share business experiences with fellow members. AGM Presentations were given by Chris Hayes (Managing Director) and Sallie Golding (PR & Marketing Manager) with the BISHTA meeting chaired by Alex Kemsley (BISHTA Chairman). Chris Hayes chaired the SPATA meeting (on behalf of Chairman – Richard Carrington), and the BSPF AGM was chaired by the President, Issy Rickards-Sanger. For the afternoon sessions, guest presenters were welcomed; Kelly Warren (Avon & Somerset Police) and Peter Newport (Chemical Business Association) who gave training on The Control of Explosives Precursors. Joined by Dr David Lapham (Pera Technology) who offered training on the Funding Opportunities, for the wet leisure industry.

Following a successful day the evening continued as the President’s Weekend began, with an informal meal ahead of the beginning of the social activities on Saturday. On Saturday morning, the day began with everyone splitting into two competing teams headed up by Issy (Issy’s Aces) and Kevin Rickards-Sanger (Kevin’s Clangers) for air rifle shooting and archery, a very intense morning of competition unfolded.

Recognition to:

• Becki Cannings – Overall Highest Individual Score

• Robin (Hood) Flux – Highest Individual Scorer (Archery)

• Dyfed Thompson-Smith – Highest Individual Scorer (Shooting)

Whilst Chris Hayes has decided rifle shooting may not be his forte, after failing to hit the target.

No expense was spared, with the fantastic inflatable trophy and chocolate medals presented at dinner on Saturday evening. The winning team was Issy’s Aces and the team celebrated as Kevin and his Clangers commiserated. An evening of entertainment continued in the Show Time

bar with performances by the Rat Pack and bags of laughs from the resident comic. The weekend closed on Sunday morning with the BSPF meeting, and all attendees agreed that it had been great to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the Cricket St Thomas Hotel. If you would like to see a taster of the weekend, you can view the President’s Weekend album on the SPATA and BISHTA websites. Watch out for next year’s President’s
