NEWS Calorex Comes To The Rescue On The Isle Of Wight!

When a local competitor’s air handling unit failed at the Gurnard Pines holiday village on the Isle of Wight, Hampshire pool dealer Aqueous Pools turned to the trusted names of Certikin and the Calorex Delta for guaranteed low running costs and high efficiency. Managing Director of Aqueous Pools, Graham Hounslow takes up the story: “As an existing customer, the Isle of Wight’s Gurnard Pines Resort, Conference and Leisure Club contacted us to investigate the heating and air handling system of its indoor 25-metre swimming pool. Not only had the existing pool heater become very inefficient but there was also a breakdown with the interior fabric of the building around the pool and to the gymnasium located above the pool. It was proving to be very expensive to run and not up to the job.

“After we carried out an extensive viability study with Certikin to find the most cost effective way to overcome the problems it was concluded that the Calorex Delta 14 was the perfect solution for Gurnard Pine’s needs.

“What really recommends the Delta to me is its compact design, low running costs, customised configuration, dual mode heat recovery, ozone friendly, twin fan operation and Certikin’s fantastic back-up service. Furthermore, the unit and installation further benefit from the Government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme.”

Aqueous Pools removed the existing unit and the new Calorex Delta 14 system was installed along with new ducting throughout the plant room. Due to the design of the Delta 14, the installation was a straight- forward simple exercise. The Delta was smaller than the original unit, thus benefiting the customer with more working space within the indoor pool plant room. Gurnard Pines Operations Manager, Fiona

Wet Leisure Industry Survey 2014 Is Now Open

As the Wet Leisure Industry Survey opens for its fourth outing, Golden Coast, the survey’s sponsor, is encouraging every business to invest a few minutes of time this month to create the biggest and clearest overview of the industry.

Now in its fourth year, this annual survey from BSPF, gathers information on changing

tastes, economic factors and business performance – to deliver the essential market intelligence that companies in the industry need to adapt and grow in the year ahead. “Year on year, more and more companies are taking part and, as a result, they are

benefitting from a wider view of the industry – including the latest marketplace trends and real opportunities for growth,” says Golden Coast Managing Direc tor Jamie Adams. The survey, which is the largest of its kind in the UK, can be completed very quickly online at http://bit.ly/wetleisure_survey

As well as facts and figures, the study also invites opinions – all of which are treated anonymously.

The results will be distributed at SPATEX in

February 2015 and will track changes in recent years. Its findings also help companies benchmark their performance against the industry as a

whole, as well as against companies that match its profile (by region, company size and service offering).

Golden Coast is a firm believer in the benefits of such strategic information and Jamie Adams added: “The unusually long period of good weather was a pleasant surprise – and thanks to our strategy we were ready to make the most from it. “I would urge all companies to contribute to – and benefit from – the Wet Leisure Industry Survey so they can be equally prepared for the challenges and opportunities which await us in 2015.”

McIntyre, expressed her delight with the installation, the efficiency and the overall service of both Aqueous Pools and Certikin. “Our members are now once again enjoying the warm and comfortable conditions and many have remarked on how much nicer the ‘feel’ of the Club is following the refurbishment. Gurnards is looking forward to a trouble free future now that Aqueous Pools will be in charge of a maintenance programme for the swimming pool facilities.” Certikn’s H&V Sales Manager, Jo Catterall

says: “The essence of Calorex product philosophy is to save energy, therefore reducing running costs and minimising capital outlay. The commercial pool operator has been quick to recognise and appreciate these unique benefits. The Calorex Delta provides the best of both worlds; a perfect balance between compressor driven and fresh air orientated systems. Good design and maximum heat recovery assure low running costs. The system cleverly takes care of the pool environment by incorporating automatic fresh air control, continuously monitoring the air temperature/humidity levels. Should natural solar gain increase the air temperature in the pool hall, the Delta can even provide air conditioning.”
