Funding boost for Maggie’s centres
Maggie’s Glasgow at Gartnavel is to share in a £2,200 donation from Dales Cycles. Dales Cycles, Scotland’s oldest
and largest local bike shop, raised the money through a series of fundraising activities and has pledged to support the valuable work which Maggie’s does for cancer patients and their relatives. Te donation will be shared equally between Maggie’s Centres
in Glasgow and Lanarkshire, at Monklands Hospital. Maggie’s provides free
practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends at 17 centres in the grounds of NHS hospitals across the UK. Debbie Houston, Managing
Director of Dales Cycles, said: “Te important work which Maggie’s does to help people dealing with an
illness which will likely affect us all, in some way, should not go unnoticed. We are proud to be able to offer our support and would like to thank our customers for geting behind our efforts.”

» A mammoth cycle challenge across Madagascar nets funds for a charity
disability charity. Te adventure began in the
capital city of Antananarivo with Team ENABLE heading east through highland villages, untouched tropical forests and
paddy fields. Te journey came to an end in the idyllic coastal town of Mahavelona which rests on the Indian Ocean. ENABLE Scotland travelled 6,000 miles to Madagascar to
celebrate its 60th anniversary year, giving fundraisers and fashion designers the trip of a lifetime. Macdonald, a long-term supporter of ENABLE Scotland, leaped at the chance to take part in the challenge. Julien Macdonald hopes to help
ENABLE Scotland surpass last years’ fundraising total of £45,000.
