A hat-trick of awards for SECC Campus


Te SECC Campus has once again been recognised with a trio of prestigious event awards in the space of a week. Te awards were received for


Venue Team of the Year 2014 at the recently held Event Magazine Awards (Haymarket Publications) and, at Te Scotish Event Awards, the SECC Campus was awarded the highly coveted Event Services Grand Prix and Best Large Venue. Commendations were also


awarded to the SECC for Best PR campaign for the ‘Opening of Te SSE Hydro’ and to sister company QD Events for Best Exhibition for ‘Te Wedding Show’. A spokesperson for the venue


said: “Te entire team has worked hard to position the campus at the forefront of the global event market and these awards reinforce our fantastic credentials in what has been a spectacular year for the event sector in Scotland. “Having just hosted the Autumn Conference of the Liberal Democrats and the MTV EMA, and with the upcoming BBC Sports Personality of the Year and BBC Good Food Show, the international spotlight will remain on Glasgow and indeed on the SECC Campus in 2014.”

A palliative care nurse in Lanarkshire will be funded for a year thanks to Hamilton Park Racecourse staff galloping towards an ambitious fundraising target for Marie Curie. Kind-hearted racecourse staff raised


more than £19,000 in just nine months thanks to a number of initiatives, including fundraising walks, collections and raffles. Having set themselves the target of

Hamilton Park staff win race to raise £19,000


£19,000 at the beginning of the year, the Hamilton Park team surpassed their own expectations by racing to the total ahead of the final race meeting of the 2014 season – the McTear’s Marie Curie Family Raceday with Mr Men and Litle Miss. Chief Executive Vivien Kyles and her


team were able to deliver their ambitious pledge ahead of schedule, thanks to generous support from race-goers, suppliers, sponsors and racing colleagues.
