Six charities secure vital funds from Hilton Hotel
G
lasgow’s five-star Hilton Hotels & Resorts property, Hilton Glasgow, was thrilled to
give away a share of £10,000 to six local charities in association with ‘Hilton in the Community Foundation’ (HCF) recently. More than 30 charities applied
for funding from HCF. Te selection panel, aſter much difficulty, selected six worthwhile causes: HopScotch Children’s Charity, Music in Hospitals, West Scotland Deaf Children’s Society, Ups and Downs Teatre, Wyndford Nursery School and Action for Children. Daniel Van Wyk, Hotel
Manager, Hilton Glasgow, said: “Tis year we appealed for charities and groups from across Glasgow to apply. We wanted to help as many charities as possible, supporting them and the great work they do. HCF want these charities to help as many people as possible and make a difference.”
St. Enoch Centre Recruitment aims to deliver retail boost
An ambitious retail recruitment initiative that aims to boost Glasgow’s status as a top shopping destination and support jobs within the sector has been launched at St. Enoch Centre. Glasgow Skills Shop (GSS)

has been established to help retail employers secure the best candidates and improve the skills of their existing workforces. It will also assist job seekers seeking employment in retail and retail staff hoping to advance their careers. Retail is Scotland’s largest
private sector employer, supporting 255,000 jobs.
Te new initiative is a
partnership between St. Enoch Centre, Jobs & Business Glasgow and the National Skills Academy for Retail. While it will focus on
Glasgow’s city centre – recognised as the second biggest shopping destination in the UK outside of London – GSS will also serve some of the city’s biggest out-of-town shopping venues including Silverburn, Te Fort and Te Forge. Retail training opportunities will also be available to employers in areas surrounding Glasgow, including Braehead in Renfrewshire.
