boats, fi shing is more than just earning a living, it is a way of life, and they deserve our support. Recognising this fact is the annual Newlyn Fish Festival in Cornwall due to take place on 25th August this year. The festival is the biggest of its kind in the UK and raises funds for The Fisherman’s Mission, a charity that provides emergency support for fi shermen and their families when they need it.

ere in the West Country we are blessed to have access to truly fresh fi sh on our doorstep. Every day, fi shermen all along the coast brave the elements to ensure that we get to eat delicious, sustainable fi sh. For many of the fi shermen who go out in small


How can we show our support for our local fi shermen? By visiting our local fi shmongers and buying fresh fi sh that has come from the smaller boats. Not exactly diffi cult along the coast and incredibly tasty and good for us too!
