BATH PRIORY OPENS THE PANTRY DOORS
SOMERSET FLOODS HOW YOU CAN HELP FARMERS
The recent fl ooding on the Somerset Levels has been devastating for farmers. Farms have been immersed, animals have been left stranded or evacuated and as we go to press there is no sign of the weather and conditions abating. Local food and businesses are central to everything we do here at FOODLOVER and farmers are at the heart of this.
They need our support, so we have teamed
up with The Royal Bath and West Society to raise money to help these farmers to get their businesses back on track. While some funds are already raising money for the farmers and their families, we have chosen the Royal Bath and West’s Somerset Farmer’s Fund because the money donated will be used specifi cally to help with the business costs. The funds
will help them to sustain their farms for the future by assisting with the huge costs involved in preparing land, re-planting crops, purchasing grain and much more. To show your support you can donate online by visiting
www.justgiving.com/ Somerset-Farmers-Fund but you must quote FOODLOVER in the comment box to ensure that the money goes to the right place. You can also send cheques directly to the Royal Bath and West Society made out to RBW Somerset Levels Relief Fund but again, you must write FOODLOVER on the back and send to Somerset Farmer’s Fund: c/o The Royal Bath and West of England Society, The Showground,
Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 6QN or telephone 01749 822200.
Bath Priory opened the doors to its latest eatery in February. The Pantry offers casual dining and drinks in a cosy atmosphere. The menu, which has been devised by Michelin Star Chef Sam Moody includes dishes like a Classic BLT with truffl e mayo and potted shrimp, while a comprehensive cocktail menu is on offer.
Commenting on the opening, Andrew
Foulkes, General Manager at The Bath Priory said “We pride ourselves on creating a unique dining experience for all and the Pantry is no exception, the dining destination emulates warmth and comfort whilst also offering a mouth-watering menu.”
Charity Registration number: 1039397. To help raise extra funds you could even
organise your own fundraising event like a cake sale. If you do, please let us know and we can help to spread the word – we might even print your fundraiser in the next issue!
NEW DORSET EATERY SETS SAIL
The recently opened The Paddle Café, Bar and Eatery in Highcliffe, Dorset is on course for success with its unique offering that combines fresh barista coffee and wood fi red pizzas. After running her parents tea shop in Milford on Sea and a stint as a barista in
New Zealand Donna Darbishire chose Highcliffe to set up shop with The Paddle. The produce used is local where possible and the wood fi red pizza oven came from down the road in Christchurch.
