Shop local ONLINE
AS WE LAUNCH OUR #SHOPLOCALONLINE CAMPAIGN WE SPEAK TO SOME PRIME EXAMPLES OF LOCAL BUSINESSES WHOSE PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE TO BUY ONLINE
W
hile we all love to visit our local shops, markets and delis in person as much as possible, there are times when
shopping online is easier and more con- venient. In fact, shopping for groceries online is a growing trend and one that the IGD (Institute of Grocery Distribu- tion) expects to almost double in the UK by 2016.
In 2012 online grocery shopping in the UK was worth €7.1 billion, this is forecast to rise to €13.7 billion by 2016. This growth could be detrimental to our local shops if we don’t shop online wisely, which is why here
at FOODLOVER we are launching our #ShopLocalOnline campaign to raise
awareness of the many innovative local shops and producers whose products are available to buy online.
Do you know a local West Country shop or producer that should be mentioned? Do you do most of your local shopping online? Then let us know by sending an email to
editor@foodlovermagazine.com, tweeting @foodlovermag or through our Facebook page. To get us started we spoke to two fantastic local enterprises whose business models revolve around online shopping.
