EGGSELLENT CHARITY EFFORT PROVIDES CHICKENS TO FAMILIES IN AFRICA


Since launching its campaign to raise money for Send a Cow Blackacre Farm Eggs has so far raised enough money to send 280 chickens to families in Africa. Blackacre Farm is donating two pence from every special 10-pack of eggs sold to raise the money. Every chicken sent is helping families to feed themselves and develop small businesses that last. Com- menting, Dan Wood from Blackacre Farm Eggs said: “The response and support we have had from our retail- ers since launching our new Send a


Cow 10-pack has been fantastic and we really are incredibly grateful to our customers for getting behind us as we work with Send a Cow to help crack poverty and hunger in Africa.” Over the next year Blackacre Farm is aiming to provide 1500 chickens to families in Africa. They are also planning a trip to Kenya this autumn to meet farmers who are receiving support from Send a Cow.


The Big Cake Show Coming to Exeter Westpoint on March 28th, 29th and 30th this promises to be the festival for baking enthusiasts. The queen of baking herself Mary Berry will be at the show on the Friday, while partner in crime Paul Hollywood will take her place on the Sunday.


Other star guests include Edd Kimber, John Whaite, Jo Wheatley and Stacie Stewart. Show visitors will be treated to live demonstrations and bake offs, a huge market area to buy all your cake and baking products, cookbook signings and much more. A perfect Mother’s Day gift perhaps? Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink From the 25th – 27th April Exeter’s streets will be alive with the 11th Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink. Exeter Castle Courtyard will host the festival cookery theatre where some of the West Country’s best chefs including Michael Caines, Nathan Outlaw and Matt Follas will be demonstrating. Northernhay Gardens in the centre of Exeter will host more than 100 stalls showcasing delicious local food and drink. Take a break from shopping in the Festival Gardens bar or in the Darts Farm Food is Fun teepees. Little ones are well looked after too with the Little Cookies area offering fun, creative and educational activities and workshops.
