The specialization exposes students to a broad background in public international law (both traditional public law and interna- tional economic law), comparative law, and international business transactions.
The specialization is exclusively for foreign attorneys, providing a unique opportunity to continue the study of law in a context that emphasizes American common law and the impact of a global economy on American law. Students also engage in a comparative study of the U.S. legal system with that of the region where they earned their law degree.
The LL.M. program, ranked among the top ten international law programs in the U.S., incorporates a rich array of international law courses, experiential learning, and special events. Students can choose to specialize in: International Business, International Human Rights, International Environmental Law, Intellectual Property, Gender & the Law, International Trade, International Commercial Arbitration, and International Organizations.
The LL.M. is an advanced program of legal study that is customized to the needs of the individual student. LL.M. candidates, mentored by expert faculty, plan a course of study in one of the following con- centrations: Communications Law, Securities Law, and Comparative and International Law.
LL.M. Global Health; LL.M. Global Health and International Institu- tions; LL.M. Securities and Financial Regulation; LL.M. Taxation; LL.M. International Business and Economic Law; LL.M. International Legal Studies; LL.M. General studies; Extended LL.M. with Certifi- cate in American Legal English.
The George Washington University offers the following LL.M. degree programs: Business & Finance Law; Energy and Environmental Law; Environmental Law; General LL.M.; Government Procurement Law; International and Comparative Law; International Environmental Law; Intellectual Property Law; Litigation and Dispute Resolution; National Security and U.S. Foreign Relations Law.
The specialization is designed to prepare students for a career in the inter-American legal field, exposing them to basic aspects of Latin American law and legal culture so they can more effectively service clients from that region and advise clients doing business in Latin America.
