New multifunctional ingredient

To meet the challenge faced by cosmetic formulators to protect and stabilise formulations, such as high SPF sunscreens, non-ionic emulsions, shampoos and shower gels, Symrise has developed a genuine multifunctional ingredient – SymSave®

H. SymSave® H helps enhance the efficacy of a wide

range of preservatives and protect a whole range of formulations. It combines anti-oxidant, soothing, emulsion stabilising and preservative boosting properties. The ingredient also offers an affordable solution for chemists to formulate milder cosmetic products that are well-protected. In addition, SymSave®

H is a nature-identical

ingredient that is FEMA/GRAS-listed and shows excellent stability at high and low pH levels and temperatures.

Optical biopsy in highest resolution with multiphoton tomography

The scientists at JenLab GmbH have succeeded in developing the first medically approved flexible CARS system. The new laser tomograph “MPTflex CARS” enables a precise look at the skin within seconds, providing optical sections without tissue removal. The CARS tomograph, along with multiphoton auto

fluorescence and second harmonic generation, also offers a new CARS module. Individual cells, cell organelles, fibrous tissue, lipids and water can be viewed with sub- micron resolution and chemical information. The in vivo multiphoton tomography has proved to be quite a promising method for the early detection of cancer and the evaluation of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products under physiological conditions.
