Community views sought on Laigh Hills community parkland project

Dunblane Development Trust and Dunblane Community Council have come together with Stirling Council and local Political representatives,to develop a long-term Strategic Community Plan

for Laigh Hills

Park, Dunblane. The over arching strategy at this stage,

is to create a framework for

a better understanding of the Parkland as an important part of Dunblane and the surrounding area. This is in order to develop a sustainable Community Plan which will allow us to make informed and prudent decisions with regard to the Park’s future management, maintenance and any proposed changes to this key community asset. This process will significantly help to shape an evidence based plan which will inform and strengthen future funding applications.

This is the first stage in a process which will continue into the future. This stage will culminate in a first version plan for the parkland, with recommendations on targeted immediate improvements and a strategy for long term priority actions & deliverability. This will include recommendations for further technical investigations and detailed feasibility studies where necessary, allowing spending to be both carefully targeted in the short term and consequently more prudent in the long term.

The first step however, is to engage with you the community, and with others who have interests in the area, in order to better understand what this asset is, what it means

to local people, and how it is used or abused, in order to establish what the uses, needs and aspirations are for Laigh Hills going forward. Technical studies are currently underway and will be used as part of the basis for this local discussion.

During Spring 2014, the Laigh Hills Steering Group together with Connon Design - Landscape

Architects & Urban Design

Consultants, will continue to canvas the thoughts, views and ideas from as many local interested people and groups as possible including; schools, nurseries, clubs and other local groups & organisations.

If you can’t attend the proposed consultation event on the 8th February 2014, but wish to find out more, then please don’t hesitate to contact the Community Council via the community web site which can be found at: www.dunblaneweb.co.uk/community_council
