You have been very Generous…
To most of us, the communities of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane and the surrounding villages are wonderful places to live. We have excellent local facilities, and very good communications to the rest of the country and beyond. However, this is not always the case for others.
Over the past year The Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane has
continued its eff orts to improve the lot of those less fortunate people, both locally, and further afi eld.
The members would like to express their gratitude to the public at large who has so generously contributed to our many fund raising activities over the past year. Over £30,000 was raised at the three major fund raising events for our three main charities (Strathcarron Hospice, CHAS and Parkinson’s UK).
Our “crepe masters” managed to produce so many of their delicacies at several shows that a further amount of over £2,000 was accumulated to be used to assist with a number of our Youth and Community Service projects.
There were also other activities including coff ee mornings, quiz nights, and the Art Auction which helped to further increase the funds that we had for distribution to local causes. In response to the devastation caused in the Phillipines, we managed to collect enough in a weekend to pay for a fully equipped Shelter Box which provides the basic living needs for up to 10 people.
Special mention must be made of the outstanding eff orts made by the recently formed Interact Club at Queen Victoria School. Through their various activities they have raised several thousand pounds and, in addition, were hugely involved in providing an excellent evening’s entertainment for some of the senior citizens a few weeks ago. Along with their junior counterparts, the Rotoract Club at the school, Beaconhurst School, Bridge of Allan Primary and the Dunblane Boys’ Brigade, we fi lled over 340 “shoe boxes” to be delivered to deserving children and families in Rumania in time for Christmas.
Members are looking forward to your continuing support next year and we hope you enjoyed the festive season and have a very Happy New Year.
