Dunblane Medical Practice Patient Participation Group

The Dunblane Medical Practice is looking for new members to join their Patient Participation Group (PPG).
The Patient Participation Group (PPG) was formed in June 2008. For the past 5 years this group has enabled patients to become more involved in the operation of the Practice, and has made a positive contribution to the services and facilities off ered. The group is chaired by a patient, who is also a member of the Dunblane Community Council, and by Dr Jamie Coutts and Mrs Winnie McLaren who represent the Practice.
The group produces a Practice newsletter that is patient organised and distributed to many of the public venues in Dunblane and nearby rural areas. Some of the topics the group have reviewed and discussed include the Patient Survey Results and the Medical Practice telephone system. Patient information letters are scrutinised by the PPG before being sent out, in order to ensure that they are easily understood by patients.

also been involved in a ‘Safety Improvement in Primary Care’ programme with NHS Forth Valley which has resulted in changes to Practice procedures, particularly with regard to repeat prescribing.
Over the years the PPG has been involved in running basic life support Heartstart courses in conjunction with the Dunblane First Responders.
Our PPG meets approximately 5 times a year at the Practice, Well Place, and the meetings start at 18.30 and last 1½ hours.
