BOTOX COSMETICS MYTHS OR FACTS?

What is Botox? Will you end up like the frozen- faced, unlined, spooky-looking ‘celebrities’ after one session? Isn’t it extortionate? Are you not just injecting poison into your body?

These are just some of the questions many people want to know, or think they already know the answer to, when I discuss my facial aesthetics clinic in Bridge of Allan.

So what is Botox? Botox is a purifi ed protein derived from Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium. It is not a poison and it is not botulism. It is a non-surgical, physician- administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe

frown lines

between the brows in people between 18 and 65 years of age. A small amount of Botox injected into a muscle blocks nerve signals that instruct your muscles to contract. In doing so, it temporarily weakens or paralyses the facial muscles and smoothes or eliminates wrinkles in the skin for a few months.

Many people come to me wanting to look refreshed and feel better about themselves and now see their treatments as a bit like going to the hairdresser. Whilst it is important to have a full consultation to establish whether a treatment is suitable for an individual; here are some points that might just dispel some myths surrounding Botox!
