Play Time
While you carve the pumpkin for Halloween, your children can make mini jack-o-lanterns with oranges, by simply drawing on faces with black ballpoint pen and fi lling in the outline with a black permanent marker.
Ghosts can be made by painting PVA glue very thickly onto a fl at piece of plastic or acetate, in a splodgy ghost shape. Leave it to dry overnight or longer, depending on how much glue you used. When it’s dry, peel the shapes off. They can be hung from the ceiling with thread, or stuck on windows – they peel off easily.
A skeleton costume can be made from a bin-bag – cut a hole in the bottom for your head and one each side for your arms. Use a fat paintbrush to paint on bones with acrylic or poster paint mixed with PVA. Wear with a long-sleeved black top, black trousers, and black and white face paint!
