Autumnfair
The perfect
utumn Fair International will take place over September 1-4 at the NEC in Birmingham. Organised by i2i Events Group, the event will present a seasonal showcase of Children’s Gifts, Toys
& Gadgets.
The huge investment in reshaping the show floor for last year’s show aimed to attract more buyers, keep them at the show for longer and provide a strong return on investment for exhibitors. As a direct result of that investment, the 2012 show attracted some 31,000 buyers from over 70 countries, around £1.1b was spent by retailers as a direct result of visiting the show. Summer research showed that over 13% of the buyers who attended the show last year had an annual budget of over £250,000. The Children’s Gifts, Toys & Gadgets sector of the show will once again be located in Hall 5 of The NEC, where it will sit alongside a large general giftware selection to optimise the cross- over buying opportunities for toy suppliers and retailers.
A number of well-known names from the
toy trade will be present at the show this year offering a huge range of products covering numerous toy categories. Also of interest to toy and gift retailers alike will be an extensive showcase of higher-end wooden toys, games and other traditional children’s gifts. New exhibitors for the 2013 show include Puzzle & Play/Creative Models, Bino Europe, Red Herring Games and Magic White Board. Hall 5 will also include a selection of ‘boys toys’, gadgets and other gifting options for men. The emphasis given to Gadgets at AFI 2012 reflected the fact that many more suppliers are entering the market with novelties, remote-controlled and other technically innovative products, along with accessories for computers, mobile phones, iPods, Kindles and gaming equipment, and 2013’s show will continue this trend. While many specialist toy shows take place at the start of the year, Autumn Fair is ideally placed for retailers who want to spread their buying over the year, preferring to buy little and often as trends emerge and budgets are more certain. Research carried out by show organiser i2i
Events in June 2013 found that there is growing demand for companies who can supply from closer to home without having to rely on lengthy overseas shipping schedules, as retailers seek to minimise the risk of orders being placed many months in advance and then not being fully delivered. This means that Autumn trade exhibitions are ideally positioned for those who

wish to place orders for either immediate delivery or delivery within 1-2 months, and an increasing numbers of retailers are seeking suppliers that hold stock for immediate delivery. As ever, Autumn Fair will offer a selection of
feature areas designed to help guide the buying decisions. Feature areas are interactive zones around the
show, giving attendees access to edited product selections, live demonstrations, catwalks and displays. The Talking Point seminar programme will once again feature a series of free seminars
