Arklu announces distribution agreement with Marbel


The Cabbage Patch Kids celebrated their 30th anniversary at an exclusive party hosted for the UK media at Hamleys in London. The launch of the new line will be supported by an extensive ‘Memory Lane’ themed PR and marketing campaign, designed to introduce the collectables to a new generation of mums and daughters.


The guest list of over 150 UK media included national press, bloggers and competition winners. All were invited to meet and greet the Cabbage Patch Kids costume characters, with 80s-themed party games and activities across the store on the morning of 30th June. The brand continues to expand with new introductions for 2013 including Wave 2 of the classic 14” one-of-a-kind Cabbage Patch Kids out now, and new soft-animal, themed Cuties. A collection of Wave 3 14” 30th anniversary Celebration Kids launches at retail this month, each with its own special celebration-themed outfi t. In the Autumn, the miniature series, named after the Babyland General Hospital, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids in the Georgia Mountains, delivers new Babies complete with nurturing accessories. The campaign will also be supported with TV spend of over 500 TVRs.


Posh Paws announces new trade website


The distribution agreement makes Marbel the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor of Arklu’s Lottie dolls range. Ian Harkin, Arklu’s managing director, said: “Since the beginning of the year we have appointed distributors in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Iceland, Greece, and we are selling at retail in France, Italy, Indonesia, UK and Ireland all based on that coverage. Lottie fi ts perfectly with Marbel’s range; they are an ambitious company focusing on brand building and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship together.” Since the beginning of the year, Arklu has been preparing a signifi cant


awareness programme by country which it will be rolling out in late August. The awareness programme will assist both the retailer in selling the product and in general awareness amongst the public.


Jumbo announces Christmas Wasgij line


Jumbo Games has announced the newest edition in its Wasgij Christmas range; A Bright Christmas Night. The puzzle depicts a scene of festive fun; puzzlers have to use their imagination and the clues provided to piece together what the characters in the image are looking at to complete the jigsaw. Posh Paws has launched a new B2B website along with a new logo and branding makeover. While the website is primarily for B2B, Posh Paws is mindful that consumers visit its website looking for products, and has tried its best to appeal to both audiences. The new website enables customers to place orders online wherever and


whenever they like. They can also view their account status and order history and manage payments online. It is also easier for new customers to apply online to open an account. In conjunction with the new website, Posh Paws had launched its social media platforms for the fi rst time, so the company can now be found on Facebook and Twitter.


Rod Stewart presented with customised Hornby train


BBC1’s One Show hosts presented Rod with a customised Hornby BR 4-6-2 Rod Stewart A1 Class Locomotive Hornby model. The presentation was made to celebrate the Wednesday 3rd July NRM The Great Gathering event, and the 75th anniversary of the Mallard steam locomotive speed record. Rod Stewart appeared on the One Show alongside his wife Penny Lancaster and spoke of his passion for collecting model railways, saying, “every man needs a hobby”. Hornby marketing manager Simon Kohler said: “Rod is a huge model railway enthusiast, so it was an honour to present him with his very own loco.” Hornby celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Mallard steam locomotive speed record alongside the Mallard’s sister locos at the NRM (National Railway Museum) in York. Hornby produce all six locos as part of their Great Gathering range. These locos were limited to 500 pieces each, and sold out in record time.
