announced the appointments of Claire Hamilton as sales sheriff, and Mike Hartshorn as sales marshall. Claire has a wealth of sales experience, having previously worked for a luxury watch brand, and prior to that working as a sales representative for Lego. Claire will be taking care of key and national accounts alongside Mike Hartshorn, who is taking over as sales marshall from Toby Davies as he prepares to take on Trunki sales in the USA. Mike joins the Trunki team from Wow! Stuff, with extensive sales and operations experience in the toy and gift industry. The company plans to open its US office in 2014, which will be led by Toby Davies, the sales captain, who has been with the company since 2009.
Will Masters has joined Kiddimoto as export manager, overseeing international sales as well as key FOB accounts. Will brings more than 20 years’ experience to Kiddimoto with roles including sales and marketing, office management and national account management. He also has extensive international experience including spells working for a company based in the USA. Will’s primary role will involve Kiddimoto international distributor customers in territories including Germany, Japan and Australia, as well as managing Kiddimoto’s large UK and European- based FOB customers.

Playmobil is to open a brand new logistics centre in Germany next year, to cope with increasing global demand. The new centre will be used for the shipping of
Playmobil toys worldwide. The main production facility in Dietenhofen reached its capacity after producing over a record 61.3m packages last year. The building is set to occupy 18 hectares of land in its new home in Bavaria, 25km away from the current plant. Company owner, Horst Brandstätter, was keen to stay loyal to the region, resisting pressure to relocate production facilities to China.

Bigjigs Toys has announced that it is now the exclusive distributor for Tatiri Wooden Alphabet Letters in the UK and Ireland. announced that Neil Wilson and Stefanie Millward have joined the company. Neil joins as national sales manager from re:creation and brings over 20 years of toy experience
gained with companies such as Hasbro and VTech. Stefanie joins MV from Halfords where she bought and developed cycle, wheeled and accessory ranges. Stefanie will be implementing new launches across MV’s own-brand and licensed portfolios.
Andrew Bevan has joined Mookie toys as a replacement for Keith Segal. Andrew will take over responsibility for QA coordination at Mookie toys/TP toys. Andrew has worked in the toy trade for the past 29 years, formally as operations manager for Cowan de Groot, and latterly operations director at Cesar UK/ Dekkertoys. Keith Segal will be retiring from Mookie Toys on August 9th after 54 years in the trade. Keith started his career in the trade at
I.Angel in 1959. Keith said: “It’s been a real rollercoaster of a ride, but one that has made me many good friends along the way. I will miss the trade, but am looking forward to a

The Secretary of State for Transport has appointed three new board members to the Dover Harbour Board, including Hornby’s Frank Martin. The three appointments will provide stability as the Port begins to work towards the new vision under its new chief executive. The new appointments are Frank Martin, Robert Lane and Erik Østergaard. Frank Martin, chairman of the British Toy and Hobby Association, and deputy chairman of Hornby, commented: “I am very much looking forward to working with the Dover Harbour Board, and all stakeholders, in maximising the positive contribution made by the Port of Dover to the local community and the national economy.”
