Income The level of income available to an individual is a widely used indicator of resilience to stresses. Figure 3.3 shows trends in Benin’s GDP per capita as well as the proportion of GDP from agriculture (agriculture GDP). The share of income earned in agriculture shows the importance of the agricultural sector for the economy. In general, as development increases, the importance of agri- culture in GDP tends to decline.
