PARTNERS Arvada scoops

volunteering award A Lichfield marketing company is celebrating after winning an award at an event in East Staffordshire. Arvada Strategic Marketing won the ‘business

contribution to volunteering’ award at the event which recognised the achievements of local voluntary organisations. The event was hosted by a local charity, East

Staffordshire Community & Voluntary Service, and the awards were presented by local MP Andrew Griffiths. Mr Griffiths said: “Arvada has provided excellent

training and marketing services free of charge to a local support organisation. This has enabled the charity involved to publicise more effectively and gain new types of income streams which in turn has had a positive effect on their service users and the wider East Staffordshire community.” Arvada managing director Mike White said:

“We are pleased that our contribution has made a difference and will continue to support them.”

National Football Centre nets local business show

A popular Staffordshire business show is once again to be staged, this year at the Hilton hotel at the new National Football Centre in Burton. The ‘Think Local 4 Business’ show – now in its ninth year – is being held on 29 November, from 8am, and will be targeting businesses from across the region. The show is being organised by East Staffordshire Borough Council, Lichfield District Council and

Tamworth Borough Council, and will include seminars, networking opportunities, and a ‘meet the buyers’ event. Last year’s event attracted more than 600 delegates, and is thought to have netted local businesses thousands of pounds of new business. One exhibitor from last year - who paid a bargain £350 for a standard exhibition stand – secured

more than £80,000 of business. Various packages are available for exhibitors, including company details on the show website, a profile in the catalogue and the opportunity to give a two-minute soapbox style pitch to visitors.

Businesses who want to exhibit at the show should visit www.thinklocal4business.co.uk/show or call Amy on 02476 236 290 or email amy@btob.co.uk The event is free for visitors.

PR firm shares success A

former runner-up in the Burton Business Awards is celebrating its seventh birthday – and in the spirit of giving, has decided to give a present to the business community in its home town of Burton. The firm is FCM Associates, a public relations

‘I am hoping to at least double the team of freelancers we have on board in the next two year’

company, which has developed a free ‘do-it-yourself’ guide to getting publicity in the local press. FCM says it is hoped the guide will become a useful resource for local businesses who are thinking about promoting themselves. Karen McElroy, FCM director, said: “I often get feedback that PR is a bit of a mystery so I thought publishing an easy-to-use guide would be just the thing to mark the occasion.” The guide – titled ‘Turning PR into Profit’ - includes advice on how to attract the media’s

interest, and how to write a press release. As well as producing the guide, Ms McElroy said she was focused on developing FCM in the

coming years, and added: “The team is very excited about the future and I am hoping to at least double the team of freelancers we have on board in the next two years.
