CHOOSE YOUR TREATMENT

Non-surgical nose reshaping is offered by advanced practitioners. It’s only suitable for more minor reshaping procedures - if you have a serious problem with the structure of your nose then you probably need to go for Rhinoplasty (p 122) - but it can produce very effective results.

Small amounts of filler are injected into the areas of the nose that need ‘tweaking’, and because you can see the results straightaway, you are in complete control of the finished effect - the practitioner tends to do it in stages and show you a mirror after each one, so you can check you are happy. This is also a good introductory measure for those who are unsure about a full-blown nose job.

What happens afterwards?

There is minimal downtime after a dermal filler treatment, although there may be some redness at the site of injection, and - rarely - a small amount of bruising, so you might want to wait a day or two before having that

big night out to show off your new look. Or invest in some mineral make-up which is ideal for covering up any tell-tale signs that you've had a procedure.

Most of these fillers are temporary and will need to be topped up after six to twelve months to maintain the results, although the effects of some Ellansé products can last for up to four years.

Will I have a scar?

There is little to no risk of scarring, although it is possible - rarely – to suffer an allergic reaction, which can manifest itself in lumps and bumps in the treatment area. The advantage of temporary dermal fillers is that this tends to resolve itself within a few months as the filler is reabsorbed by the body, but if it really bothers you, it is possible to have HA fillers dissolved using a product called hyaluronidase.

Dr Nick Milojevic on tear trough removal using dermal fillers Name:Ginny

Age: 53

Occupation:Company Secretary Treatment: Radiesse for Hand Rejuvenation

I keep pretty fit and I enjoy ballet and also going to dance classes. I tended to worry about my face, so over the past few years I have had various aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers and toxin treatment but my hands gave my age away in two seconds!

My hands were wrinkled and the veins very visible and AFTER

BEFORE

it was making me feel self conscious so I finally decided to do something about it.My aesthetic nurse, Paula Shurrock at MBNS Clinic inThame, Oxfordshire suggested a volumising treatment using Radiesse which would help my hands look younger.

Before the treatment my hands were covered in 'numbing' cream, which made it a pain-free experience. They were also injected with an anaesthetic followed by the Radiesse. It took less than 30 minutes to complete the treatment.

BEFORE AFTER

My hands were tender and puffy for a couple of days afterwards but soon settled down. I put a little camouflage make-up on them to cover up the redness. Paula advised me to massage them daily with cream which I did for a couple of weeks after the treatment. My hands now look so much fuller and the veins less pronounced. It was such an easy procedure, I wish I had had this treatment years ago!
