With the world’s attention focussed on London a new website has been launched to showcase the city’s biggest investment opportunity – Nine Elms on the South Bank. A multi-billion pound regenera-

tion programme is now transform- ing this 195 hectare riverside district into a brand new residential and business quarter. www.nineelmslondon.compro-

vides the latest information and insights on the area’s extraordinary transformation programme and sets out the investment, business and job opportunities now being created. It includes an interactive map highlighting the 26 intercon- nected development sites, which are changing the face of this old industrial district and breathing new life into Vauxhall and Albert Embankment. There’s also an image gallery

packed with the latest project CGIs, maps and illustrations, an events calendar and information pages on key aspects of the development programme including the Northern line extension, linear park and plans for a new Thames bridge. Nine Elms programme director

Helen Fisher said: “The eyes of the world are on London this summer and Nine Elms on the South Bank is the biggest investment opportu- nity our city has to offer. The new website offers a new window into this enormous regeneration scheme and sets out our vision for a brand new part of Central London.”

Archipelago Cinema, a floating audi- torium designed by architect Ole Scheeren, will form part of the official selection of collateral events in the 13th International Architecture Exhibition. An evocative outdoor theatre located within the old harbour basin Darsena Grande of the Arsenale, Venice’s his- toric shipyard, the modular raft will act as a mobile stage for public events, including the world premiere of the film Against All Rules. Against All Rules, a documentary essay produced by acclaimed film- maker and architecture specialist Horst Brandenburg, presents profound insight into the work and philosophy of German-born and Beijing-based architect Ole Scheeren. Spanning a period of more than six years, the film follows the breathtaking construction of one of the most iconic buildings of recent times, the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing and the role of its lead archi- tect Ole Scheeren – an unparalleled adventure in the world of architecture and construction. The film ventures further to reveal

the architect’s life and work beyond cre- ating one of the largest buildings ever

built. A wide range of other ground- breaking projects in Beijing, Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur represent new prototypes in response to the com- plexity and growing challenges of a global and dramatically shifting world. As Horst Brandenburg states: “Ole Scheeren has come to stand for what architects have to fulfil beyond primary function: a promise, an aim, a dream, or a vision of the future at the beginning of the 21st century.”
