Cembrit is pleased to announce the release of a case study book, a publication dedicated to showcasing the versatility and beauty of Glendyne through in-depth case studies and photography. The new 48 page guide should act as an inspirational resource for architects, specifiers and contractors working on natural slate roofing projects. Glendyne is a strong, consistent, easy-to-work and durable natural slate. It has gained a reputation as the ideal replacement for blue/grey Welsh slate –particularly the unobtainable Ffestiniog. The quarry has a remarkable geology, which creates a

top quality slate at an affordable price. Recticel helps create striking new roof

Recticel insulation boards and Armourplan PVC single-ply membrane have been used to help create an unusual new 12,000 m² roof for a building designed to blend in with the stun- ning Derbyshire countryside which surrounds it. The Recticel Eurothane Eurodeck boards were specified for the new High Peak water bottling plant by SIG Design & Technology.

The decision was made on the basis of the boards’ outstanding thermal perform- ance characteristics, and Recticel’s ability to engineer the boards to suit the unusual roof profile. The elegant roof form features a series of four barrel-vaulted sections, connected by central gutters, to create a ‘rolling wave’ effect.

enq.216 Rainwater harvesting – from the experts

Rainwater harvesting is fast becom- ing a standard feature in new build designs. The design and construc- tion industry understands the inte- gral part rainwater harvesting plays in creating sustainable buildings. Polypipe’s Rainstream systems are

predominantly targeted at domestic installations but can be used in light com- mercial applications too. Rain harvesting can replace up to 50 per cent of house- hold mains water consumption, and up to 85 per cent on commercial installations. One third of all water used in the home gets flushed down the toilet.

Yeoman Rainguard, a market leader in rainwater systems, has come up with another innovative addition to its range – Rainwater Diverters. Manufactured from cast aluminium, the Yeoman Rainguard Rainwater Diverters come in black tex- tured finish as standard, or are available to

order in other BS or RAL colours. Designed to compliment the successful XL range, the diverters easily connect to an adjacent water butt via a flexible hose connection (included). When the butt is full, overflow water continues down the rainwater pipes in the normal way. The Diverters are available to suit 75mm Dia XL or 75 x 75mm XL pipes.

63 Norfolk architects win UK Passivhaus Awards

Norfolk-based practice Parsons + Whittley Architects has won the residential category of the first ever UK Passivhaus Awards for a scheme, which was insulated with STYRO- FOAM™ insulation from Dow Building Solutions. Parsons + Whittley won the much sought after award for the Wimbish

The buildings were insulated below the concrete floor slabs with FLOOR- MATE 300-A STYROFOAM insulation. The material is highly durable with excellent moisture-resistance and compressive strength.

enq.215 Recticel sails into the lead for charity

Recticel Insulation has donated its high per- formance Eurothane GP insulation to Rudyard Sailability, an award-winning charity that provides sailing activities for people living with a disability. The donation marks a substantial step forward for the charity in its mission to create a state-of-the-art sailing facility in Staffordshire. More than 200m2 the rigid PIR foam board has been installed in the

of

roof of a prestigious new boathouse, which is being built to very high specifica- tions in order to protect the high-tech boats and equipment needed by the charity. As many of the boats are controlled by complex electronics, it is vital that they are stored in a warm and completely damp-free environment.
