Polyflor, UK’s manufacturer of commercial and residential vinyl floorcoverings has launched a new product in the Polysafe range. Polysafe Modena PUR features a high-clarity, micro-granite appearance across 14 different shades and is available with the manufacturer’s groundbreaking Polysafe PUR (polyurethane reinforcement). The development of Polysafe Modena PUR follows increased demand for more aesthetic floorings that can be used throughout a building but that still retain sustainable slip resistant properties. Customer demand is now for high quality designs with built-in safety, containing safety particles that are virtually invisible and do not detract from the good looks demanded in the more showcase areas of a facility. The inclusion of clear aluminium oxide within the vinyl ensures that Polysafe Modena PUR is fully compliant with HSE and UK Slip Resistance Group Guidelines, achieving 36+ in the Pendulum wet test and a surface roughness of 20 microns and above. The appeal of all 14 shades is protected by Polysafe’s class-leading cross-linked and UV cured PUR maintenance enhancement, to enable optimum appearance levels and maintenance cost savings of up to 60 per cent. Polysafe Modena PUR fully meets the requirements of EN 13845, the European standard for safety flooring.

Cambridge City Council has completely refitted its Grand Arcade Annex car park with award-winning LED lighting to help save energy and lower carbon emissions. As part of their commitment to make Cambridge a more sustainable city, council officers asked lighting specialists MHA Lighting to provide a solution that would reduce energy bills without affecting light quality. Manchester-based MHA Lighting replaced 220 Halophane light fittings (150 watts without ballast) with 220 of their award-winning LB 36 fittings, which use just 45 watts (including ballast). This is expected to achieve energy savings of up to 75 per cent and cut carbon emissions by the equivalent amount. The new LB light fittings run maintenance free for the dura- tion of their 60,000-hour lifetime (which equates to seven years if they are switched on 24 hours a day, seven days a week). This will provide additional savings as no maintenance costs will be incurred. Parking services operations manager Sean Cleary said: “The Grand Arcade town centre car park is one of the city’s busiest car parks so high levels of light and light uniformity are crucial to ensure customers feel safe and secure, particularly as the car park is underground. “As a result, the biggest challenge for us was completing the installation with absolute minimum disruption to customers and business users who rely on the car park daily for their city centre parking.”

enq.241 St Paul’s way, London

A. Proctor Group recently supplied Profloor Levelling System to Countryside Properties’ recent development of 300 flats at St Paul’s Way, London. Profloor Levelling System was developed in order that a level, finished floor could be laid on a cam- bered, stepped or uneven sub-floor. The Levelling System is used on typical structural concrete floors

where differences in level are too great for a finished floor. The floor is levelled by inserting packers in each levelling base to adjust the level of the timber battens and thus create a level finished floor, wet trades being completely eliminated. Ideal for new build flats and conversions to flats where impact and airborne sound reduction is mandatory.
