external fixtures Increased demand for slim glass units

Slim glass unit manufacturer, Slenderpane, is doubling the size of its premises due to increased demand. Managing director, Dave Weston, says it is down to the service, quality and competitive pricing that they offer. Slenderpane’s sister company, Herald Joinery, who spe- cialise in fine traditional sash windows, said that more projects are having slim glass units specified as architects and consumers wish to have fixed, slim glazing bars thereby avoiding the need for ‘stick-on’ bars. The heavy inert gas filled units offer u values down to 1.3w/m2

New steel system from Schueco Jansen

With structurally glazed façades currently very much in vogue, architects and specifiers are expected to welcome the arrival in the UK of VISS SG, a new thermally insulated system from steel specialist, Schueco Jansen, which delivers the stylish 'all-glass' appearance they are seeking. The effect is achieved by means of a special toggle and channel system, which holds the glazed unit in place mechanically, without the need for the traditional mullion/transom pres-

sure plate and cover cap profiles. This means that from the outside, only the narrow silicone joints between adjoining units are visible.
