Withers has been serving as managing director of the UK-based Ransomes Jacobsen division of the American manufacturers since January 2005, overseeing international operations for all Jacobsen brands as well as the E-Z-GO brand in Europe. “I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Withers. “Having worked in the golf and turf maintenance industry for over 25 years, 19 of those with the Jacobsen team, this appointment is what I have always aspired to. “I look forward to working with the team, growing our market share around the world and continuing Jacobsen’s leadership in turf maintenance products.” David joined Textron in 1992 as a regional sales manager for Jacobsen in the UK. In 1996, he was promoted to the position of national accounts manager, where he focused on developing business with key customers across Europe. Grant helps club purchase new mower

A Dennis FT430 mower has proved an instant hit at Hollyfields Bowls Club, improving the playing surface after just one season of use. “The green just needed cutting and preparing for play, so we were lucky to find it,” said head

greenkeeper James Bowyer.

The club had an old mower brought from the Dunlop ground and last year purchased a budget machine, but a grant from Sport England meant that Bowyer could secure his ideal mower, the Dennis FT430.

golf and turf industry and is highly respected amongst his peers and customers. With his broad international experience - which spans over 45 countries - and his strong track record in business development and operational excellence, I am confident that he is the right person to maximise the growth opportunities that lie ahead for Jacobsen,” said Scott Donnelly, Textron CEO.

David will succeed Dan Wilkinson, who is retiring from the company after 14 years of service to Textron. Under Dan’s leadership, Jacobsen made great strides in improving its operating efficiency and re-invigorating its product offering, including the introduction of the innovative Jacobsen Eclipse 322 - the world’s first hybrid riding greens mower.

Headland reveals new fungicide Headland Amenity has unveiled

Surpass PRO, a new liquid fungicide that gives turf professionals a ‘belt and braces’ approach to disease control. Surpass PRO contains

Iprodione, a fungicide that offers both cures and prevents fusarium patch and red thread on turf. Surpass PRO can be mixed with Headland’s ‘Throttle’ fungicide, as well as a range of Headland’s plant protection products, to give cost-effective, programmed disease control where required.

Approved for knapsack, as well

“My assistant and I saw the mower and were immediately impressed,” he said. “We knew it was the right machine for the club and our chairman, William Coleing, and I prepared an application for the funding to purchase it.”

as boom application, Surpass PRO is an added option for course managers confronting disease control in the cooler, slower growing months of the year. With the UK climate having proved more unpredictable than ever this year, Headland Amenity’s WeatherCheck has also proved invaluable to course managers across the country and is a continuing success for the company, with accurate weather forecasting - tailored to a specific location - one of the most useful tools for planning course maintenance operations.

The Sport England grant, funded by the National Lottery recognised the club’s contribution as a community sports facility, and came as a real blessing for the committee.

The 43cm (17in)

cylinder mower utilises Dennis’s cassette system, allowing 11 different tools to be fitted and making it an all-round bowling green maintenance tool. “I’m delighted with the ease of use,” said Bowyer. “It takes 30 seconds to change the cassettes and I have been able to use a range of the machine’s tools to improve the green.”
