Glitter Toos
WITH A background in skin care and esthetics, Liana Berg- man launched her business in glitter tattoo work, known as Glitter Toos. “Previously running a distributorship in New York City, I used to travel to the West Coast frequently, keeping up on trends and innovative products that always seemed to originate there,” explains Bergman. “My main criteria for the products I selected were that they were ef- fective, pure and made in the USA.” It was in Los Angeles that she found a trend involving free style body glue and added glitter. “I had strong reservations about
the safety and quality control of the glue, as it was made over- seas,” adds Bergman. Unable to fi nd a U.S. made, waterproof body glue, Bergman had her labs create one. Bergman also had a hand in
other elements of her product design, including the glitter and stencils. “I wanted to make sure that the glitter was made in the U.S., and was completely pure, unbuffered and cut to my speci- fi cations, such that if it were to get into one’s eyes, it would not scratch or irritate them,” she says. Graphic artists were con- tracted for the stencil designs,
also manufactured in the U.S. with a completely safe, water- based adhesive. Bergman and her associates began applying tattoos at local parties, and then corporate and sporting events. “Soon guests were ex- pressing their interest in taking them home, and how much their continued on page 32
