While it is a city, Boise is part of an amazing variety of habitats including deserts, forests and rivers. Explore the wilds of the city and experience the outdoor recreational opportunities Boise has to offer. We will hike in the Boise Foothills while learning about sagebrush deserts; float the Boise River while discovering river and riparian habitats; visit wetlands to examine the importance of Boise’s water sources; wander amongst many park trees and also investigate tree functions and identification; and safari through the zoo to explore ecosystems and animals from around the world. Zoo Boise & Boise Art Museum It’s the Year of the Dragon -- and what better way to celebrate than by learning about animals and works of art from across the Pacific? The Boise Art Museum’s exhibition of Asian artwork will inspire wildlife exploration and artmaking in this week-long camp. Students will discover the meaning of animals in Chinese and Japanese cultures, study unique animal habitats, and create their own works of art using authentic materials such as clay, rice paper and ink. Mornings will be spent at Zoo Boise and afternoons will be spent at the Boise Art Museum. Pre-registration required by Friday, July 27. Register by visiting www.boiseartmuseum.org.
