Installs Boom in Boston

Boomerboston.com

The Boomerboston.biz home page (top) is easier on the eye and features better video placement than the original Boomerboston. com home page. Additionally, though it’s something simple, it also has the section “Touch. Feel. Hear” (right) that, when clicked on, reminds customers to first visit the retailer before making a purchase.

Immediately underneath is a “Reviews” section where viewers

are directed to comments posted on Yelp and Google. And with social networking, another vital way for any business to maintain a presence and promote, Boomer has three links on its home page under its “Follow Us” heading for its Twitter, Facebook and MySpace feeds. What actually turned out to be the real score on the site was at the bottom of the home page, which allowed me to click on the link under “Can’t Find What You Need.” Next, i redirected to boomerboston.biz. I actually preferred this site to the original site, boomerboston.com. The second site I was directed to had more white space, is easier on the eye and has better video placement. There also are some immediate ways to engage the viewer with a live expert who can chat with you right away, an area to sign up for the store’s newsletter and social links and contact info immediately in the top right-hand corner. If customers don’t want to speak online with a live expert, they can send a question in a section

beneath the box where users can sign up for a newsletter. Compared to Boomerboston.com, this site is much easier to

navigate with a cleaner layout and bright, understandable icons to take you to what you want. And the “Who Says Your Car Can’t Be Unique?” box with the store name and phone icon is a good hook for someone looking for an installation expert. The nine tabs at the top intuitively take you easily to information from audio and video to HD Radio to Bluetooth. Users can receive a primer on the latest technologies through these tabs. Brand names scroll along the bottom. Lastly, this home page includes a section called “Touch. Feel.

Hear. Before You Buy” that, when clicked on, reminds customers to visit the retailer because the showroom is designed to assist before they make a purchase. What works here, above all, is the clean design with enough white space not to fatigue the eye. Overall, the Boomerboston.com site offers all the critical

information, is easy to navigate and provides information on the shop’s many services. ■
