CES TRENDS

“Drop in” is becoming a household word with speaker installations, and the thin trend is spreading to subwoofers as well for drivers who crave trunk space.

Energy Flat Subwoofers and Enclosed Systems The line features 4 flat solutions, 2 subwoofer drivers, and 2 enclosed systems. The ES F20.5 200mm sub is a mere 86mm in depth with max power of 400 watts. MSRP: $199.99 to $259.99

Hybrid Audio’s Legatia and Legatia Special Edition series

Super-wide bandwidth design mid-range/full range speak-

ers that pack performance in a small format. Each driver can operate with a simple highpass filter to the extent of its bandwidth into the upper treble frequencies minus the need for a tweeter. MSRP: $319.99/pair to $559.99/pair

Powerbass S-692T 6x9-inch Speaker The company filled a nice hole in its speaker line with a 6x9 that, at only 2 inches deep, drops into most factory ap- plications. MSRP: $69.99

JL Audio TW3-D4 Subwoofer The company’s newest sub design is doing double duty this year, sold as a separate driver as well as being used for many of the company’s PowerWedge preloaded boxes. Available in 10-inch and 12-inch sizes in the second quarter. MSRP varies by model.

Cadence Sound FXB 12SA Powered Subwoofer Enclosure This is Cadence’s fourth small box design, and it’s powered as well. The slim enclosure in- cludes a 12-inch subwoofer and is set to ship late spring to early summer.
