Tony Horton Sales Enormis Mobile Specialties Erie, Pa. Lou Norman, owner: “Tony went out of his way to figure out
what sold last year. He created 10 Excel pages of easy-to-read sales history. It made it so much faster when placing my orders for 2012.”
Jason Sisk Sales Manager Ultimate Car Audio Paso Robles, Calif. Lysa Paine, manager: “Goes above and beyond to help the customers find what they need. He takes the time to talk to them individually to find a product that suits their needs.”
Denise Phillips Owner Audiowave Gautier, Miss. Mike Phillips, owner:
Now you can get your car cleaned up and some fancy detailing done at Sound On Wheels. The shop, located in Rock Hill,
N.C., is looking
to expand into other areas of the automotive business and just recently got wash bays up and running. But don’t look for the retailer to get into anything home audio related. “We are car experts and we’re sticking to what we’re good at,” said owner Rick Miller.
How About a Seat in the “Hair Chair?” For Autobahn of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.,
in-store
demos have proven to be a popular way to get people to walk in the door, so something new is in the works. “We picked up Kicker in the third quarter of last year,” said owner Reza Zahedivash, “and we are working on displaying the Kicker SoloX 18-inch subwoofer in our showroom in what we call the ‘Hair Chair’.”
“In addition
to doing a great job with the accounting/books, she helps out on the sales floor, picks up and delivers customer vehicles and also helps out in our detail shop when we are short- handed. I couldn’t do without her.”
The retailer has done in-store promos before and had success when it did something with the MTX 9500 several years back. Now it’s time to put this monster sub in the mix to see what kind of traffic it will draw. The Hair Chair is a fun demo Zahedivash came up with to show customers how much air the SoloX can move. The subwoofer is fitted in a custom enclosure that maximizes air movement and minimizes sound at 60 Hz. The Hairchair is powered by a standard 60-Hz AC outlet. “To complete the menacing look, we created an ‘electric chair’ seat so our customers can sit close to the output port,”
Zahedivash said. “The sound causes their hair to fly all crazy.” Zahedivash expects those who are serious and those who are just plain curious. “We had people that had never been in our store coming in and just asking for a demo so we are hoping that we will get the same effect.”
