Shaun Seow, Chief Executive Officer of MediaCorp-Singapore, said: “Audiences want information which is accurate and timely. As media organisations in an increas- ingly globalised world, we have to make sense of all that information for our audiences … to present a com- plete picture that’s rich in context”.


He said the ABU must continue to focus its efforts on helping its members to open minds, foster community action and make the world a better place.


Cai Fuchao, Minister of the State Administration of Radio, Films and Television of China (SARFT), said that in the face of economic globalisation and political multi- polarisation, today’s media has a strong social responsibility to offer accurate and objective news reports. He said that he hopes that the


ABU will work harder to create new platforms for cooperation.


Innovations in media technology


İbrahim Şahin, Director General of TRT-Turkey, said: “The public service broadcaster needs to catch up with new innovations in media technology – the ABU is a very important platform for exchanging our experiences and content.”


Kim In-Kyu, President and CEO of KBS-Korea, said that the digital divide is creating a one-way flow of information and offered suggestions on how to bridge this gap.


Murtaza Solangi, Director General of PBC-Pakistan, said that private sector broadcasting is assuming a very important role in digitalisation and technological innovation. He also stressed that public service


Naranbaatar Myanganbuu, Director General ofMNB-Mongolia, said that the future of broadcasting is in media convergence.


“We need the ABU to help in the integration of new and traditional media in the region. We need more effective technical, programming and management consultancy services and training courses both in online journalism and new broadcasting technology.”


Veronika Singh, Chief Financial Offi- cer of FBC-Fiji, suggested that the ABU provide more trainers who can impart knowledge on new technology to more people in member organisations.
