the ABU should address the enormous changes that have happened in the media industry during this period.
Copies of a document by the PSG listing proposals for the anniversary were circulated among mem- bers. Among the proposals are:
• Revitalising the ABU motto
• Designing a special “ABU 50” logo
• Producing an animated logo and song
• Redesigning the ABU News, Technical Review, and the weekly news digest to reflect the 50th anniversary

Ms Kim reported that a task force to review and study the sports rights acquisition strategy of the ABU was formed by the Secretariat. It met in Kuala Lumpur on 19 September 2011.
A questionnaire on ABU’s sports rights acquisition strategy was distributed to some 20 members of the Sports Group, Sports Finance Committee members and Broadcast Rights Committee members.
The results were submit-
ted to the task force members who made recommendations such as forming a “Guarantor Group” for every sporting event; involving members in negotiations and pricing; drafting an audit system.
Other recommendations included drafting Key Per- formance Indicators and persuading members to form their own national pools.
Ms Kim said the objectives of the new mechanism are to involve members in the process, to ensure transparency and to build a bigger inventory of sports events for the Union.
She informed the General Assembly that the recom-
mendations of the Sports Task Group have been approved by the PSG and the ABU Administrative Council.
Ms Kim also reported that the PSG endorsed the recommendation of the Secretary-General to impose an interest charge on unpaid membership subscriptions during a meeting on 5 November 2011 in New Delhi.
She said the PSG also discussed the proposal of the Secretary-General to form an ABU Alumni, a group of distinguished individuals who became part of ABU.
The report of the PSG was approved by the General Assembly.
