British highway traffic bollard manufacturer, Leafield Enviromental, has won a contract to supply its Night Owl, retroreflective bounce-back, sign bollards to the Hong Kong Transport Authority through its Kowloon based distributor. In an attempt to eliminate the cost of bollard replacement and reduce vehicle damage caused by collisions with highway bollards, the Hong Kong Transport Authority has evaluated the all-plastic Night Owl and is now undertaking large-

scale dynamic trials. Meeting the standard for Retro Reflective Self Righting Bollards, Night Owl is also passively safe, exceeding the requirements of Performance Standard 100/NE4 of BS EN 12767:2000. t 01225 816500 www.leafield-enviromental.com

182 ARGOS FIRE CHOOSE SRC 3000 FOR BEST VALUE

When Vale Builders, South of Portsmouth, won the tenders for a major hotel chain’s projects in Exeter, Birmingham and Bradford. The hotel’s insurance assessor ruled that they must install a fire alarm system on each individual construction site. Paul Baber, Argos Fires’ sales consultant, recommended that they use the Detectomat SRC 3000 wireless detect, a movable system that could be used on several different sites in turn, does not require cabling is quick and easy to install and can be easily moved from site to site as necessary. Vale Builders managing surveyor, Graeme Hodge was delighted with the decision to use Detectomat. “Because the alarm is wireless, we avoided the considerable charges that would have been incurred for each hole drilled to accommodate cabling. This represents a significant cost saving particularly on a large site. [...] The initial purchase cost of the alarm can also be spread over several projects as it has been in this case.” t 01579 321750 www.detectomat.com
